Can I go blind from having the LASIK or SMILE procedure? What are the risks?
Refractive surgery sometimes results in imaging errors, such as glare or reduced visual acuity at night, which are often only temporary in nature.
If, contrary to expectations, complications (e.g. inflammations) occur, this only means a somewhat longer healing phase. The desired result will nevertheless be achieved as desired.
When correcting very high visual defects, it may be necessary to accept certain compromises with regard to natural visual performance (e.g. lower contrast in comparison to visual performance with glasses or contact lenses).
